Ryan Reynolds Says Another Deadpool Film Will Eventually Happen

Ryan Reynolds has offered fans one of the clearest indications yet that Deadpool will return to the big screen.

During a panel at Fanatics Fest 2026, the actor and producer said there would “eventually” be another Deadpool film. He also spoke about elements from the comics that have not yet been explored in the movies.

The comments quickly led to headlines claiming that Deadpool 4 had been confirmed. However, there are still some important details missing.

Is Deadpool 4 Officially Confirmed?

At this stage, Marvel Studios has not formally announced a movie titled Deadpool 4.

There is no confirmed release date, production timetable, director or cast list. Reynolds also did not explain whether the next project would be another solo Deadpool adventure or a film featuring the character as part of a larger group. Variety reported that Marvel had not immediately commented on his remarks.

A more accurate description is therefore that Reynolds has confirmed Deadpool’s story will continue, rather than confirming all the details of a fourth standalone instalment.

Reynolds Has Already Started Exploring Ideas

Earlier in 2026, Reynolds said he had written some material for Deadpool’s return, but suggested that the character might work better in a supporting role.

He described Deadpool as a character who is particularly effective when placed alongside a wider group, raising the possibility of another ensemble or crossover project rather than a traditional solo sequel.

At Fanatics Fest, Reynolds also mentioned comic-book writers Fabian Nicieza and Gerry Duggan while discussing stories and references that future films could explore.

Following the Success of Deadpool & Wolverine

The most recent film in the series, Deadpool & Wolverine, was released in 2024 and paired Reynolds’ character with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

The movie became the highest-grossing R-rated film worldwide and marked Deadpool’s first feature-length appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Its success made further appearances by the character likely, but Reynolds’ latest comments provide stronger reassurance that plans are being considered.

For now, fans will need to wait for Marvel Studios to confirm exactly what form Deadpool’s return will take.
