Eurovision 2027 In Burgas:Everything We Know So Far

Eurovision fans, the next trip is officially taking shape. 🎤🇧🇬

The 71st Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria, with the European Broadcasting Union and Bulgarian National Television confirming the Black Sea city as the host for 2027.

Burgas will stage the contest after DARA won Eurovision 2026 for Bulgaria with “Bangaranga”, giving the country its first-ever Eurovision victory and, in turn, its first opportunity to host the main contest.

Here’s everything confirmed so far.

When Is Eurovision 2027?

The three live shows will take place in May:

Semi-Final 1: Tuesday, 11 May 2027
Semi-Final 2: Thursday, 13 May 2027
Grand Final: Saturday, 15 May 2027

The Grand Final will bring the 71st edition of Eurovision to a close on Saturday night, with the two Semi-Finals determining most of the finalists earlier in the week.

Where Will Eurovision 2027 Take Place?

The contest will be staged at Arena Burgas, one of Bulgaria’s newest sports and entertainment venues.

The arena opened in 2023 and will host all three televised Eurovision shows, along with six additional preview performances during Eurovision week.

Burgas was selected following a host-city process that also involved Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna. Sofia and Burgas made the final stage before the Black Sea city was ultimately selected. The other bidding cities are still expected to play a part in the wider Eurovision programme across Bulgaria.

There Will Be Nine Arena Shows

Fans will have more chances to experience Eurovision inside the arena than just the three televised broadcasts.

Alongside the two Semi-Finals and Grand Final, organisers have confirmed six preview shows between Monday, 10 May and Saturday, 15 May.

These traditionally give audiences the opportunity to watch performances before the live televised versions.

What About Eurovision Tickets?

Tickets are not yet on sale, but there is one important change fans need to know about.

Anyone hoping to buy tickets for Eurovision 2027 will need to register for a free Eurofan account.

Eurovision says Eurofan will be the route through which fans gain access to ticket sales, with further ticket information to be announced in the coming months. Registration itself is free.

So if Burgas is already in your plans, setting up a Eurofan account is one thing you can do now.

Eurovision Village And EuroClub Are Coming

The main contest will not be confined to Arena Burgas.

Organisers have confirmed that a wider programme of activities will take place around the host city during Eurovision week, including Eurovision Village, EuroClub and other cultural and entertainment events.

Exact locations and programmes have not yet been revealed.

Getting To Burgas

For fans considering making the trip from Malta, Burgas sits on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast.

Burgas Airport is around 10 kilometres from the city centre, with a regular bus connection available. The city also has rail connections with Sofia and other destinations along the Black Sea coast, while international bus routes serve Burgas too.

Flight schedules from Malta for May 2027 may still change considerably before Eurovision week, so travellers planning early should avoid assuming that current routes or timetables will remain the same.

Canada Is Joining Eurovision

Eurovision 2027 will also feature a major first: Canada is set to make its Eurovision Song Contest debut.

CBC/Radio-Canada will participate following an agreement announced by the EBU in July, making Canada one of the biggest additions to the Eurovision family in recent years.

The country already has a famous connection with Eurovision history: Canadian singer Céline Dion won the contest for Switzerland in 1988.

Which Countries Are Taking Part?

The complete list of participating countries has not yet been officially announced.

Several broadcasters are already making plans for their 2027 national selections, but the final line-up will only become clear once the EBU confirms all participating broadcasters.

That means it is still too early to give a definitive number of countries competing in Burgas.

And What About Malta?

For Maltese Eurovision fans, this is naturally the big question.

At this stage, the full Eurovision 2027 participant list — including Malta’s final participation details and selection arrangements — has not yet been formally confirmed by the EBU.

Malta competed in Vienna in 2026 with AIDAN and “Bella”, after he won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest.

Any details about Malta’s 2027 representative, song or national-selection process should therefore wait for official confirmation.

Why Is Bulgaria Hosting For The First Time?

Bulgaria earned hosting rights after DARA won Eurovision 2026 in Vienna with “Bangaranga”.

It was Bulgaria’s first Eurovision victory, meaning Burgas 2027 will also become the first main Eurovision Song Contest ever hosted in the country.

What Happens Next?

The biggest pieces are now in place: Burgas, Arena Burgas and the dates of 11, 13 and 15 May 2027.

The months ahead should bring the participating-country line-up, national selections, ticket-sale details, Eurovision Village and EuroClub locations, hosts, branding and eventually the songs themselves.

For Maltese fans already thinking about Bulgaria, the Eurovision countdown has officially started.
