Malta Come From Behind In Andorra
Malta have started their 2026/27 UEFA Nations League campaign with a 2-1 victory away to Andorra, completing a comeback to collect all three points in their League D opener.
Emilio De Leo’s side fell behind in the first half at the Estadi FAF in Encamp, but goals from Irvin Cardona and Teddy Teuma turned the match around for Malta.
Andorra opened the scoring through Guillaume López in the 17th minute, giving the hosts an early advantage.
Malta responded before half-time, with Cardona finding the equaliser in the 36th minute to send the teams into the break level.
Teuma Delivers The Winner
The contest remained tight after the restart, but Malta eventually found the goal they needed in the closing stages.
Teuma struck in the 81st minute to complete the comeback and put Malta 2-1 ahead, a lead they held until the final whistle.
The result gives Malta three points from their opening match in League D, Group 1, where they are competing with Andorra and Gibraltar.
Gibraltar Up Next
Malta will continue their Nations League campaign at home against Gibraltar on Thursday, 1 October, before welcoming Andorra on Sunday, 4 October.
It gives De Leo’s side a winning start to their League D campaign.
