Malta’s national rugby team secured an impressive victory over Germany on Saturday, 7th November, winning 37–29 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium in Paola.
The match was particularly special as it marked Malta’s 100th international appearance.
Malta made a flying start, taking a commanding 20–0 lead in the first half. Germany fought back after the break, putting the hosts under considerable pressure, but Malta showed determination and character to maintain their advantage.
Despite Germany closing the gap in the final stages, Malta held their nerve. John Connolly converted a late penalty to seal the 37–29 victory.
The result puts Malta at the top of the Rugby Europe Men’s Trophy standings and ensures the national team will remain in the division for another season.
