Southwaves Swimming Club has ended the 2026 National Long Course Championships, and its season, on a high note after achieving its strongest result to date.
The club finished the championships with a total of 27 medals, made up of 11 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze.
Alongside the medal success, Southwaves also recorded its highest-ever club finish, placing 3rd overall. The result marks an important milestone for the club, especially as it comes just four years after its formation.
In its post, Southwaves Swimming Club described the achievement as a reflection of the hard work, passion and commitment shown by everyone involved throughout the season.
The club thanked its coaches for their dedication and professionalism, as well as the many hours spent supporting swimmers from poolside.
Parents were also recognised for their ongoing support, trust and belief in the club’s vision, with Southwaves noting that achievements like this would not be possible without the wider support system around the swimmers.
The club also paid tribute to its swimmers, describing them as the heart of Southwaves. Their determination, resilience and love for the sport were highlighted as key parts of the club’s continued progress.
Southwaves said that while the season has now come to an end, the journey is far from over, with bigger goals and new challenges ahead next season.
It is a proud moment for the club and a strong sign of the progress being made in Malta’s swimming scene.
