Two officers from the Armed Forces of Malta have successfully completed a specialised command course in the United States.
Lieutenant Matthew Aquilina and Lieutenant Miguel Cauchi, both from the Maritime Squadron of the Armed Forces of Malta, completed the Prospective Commanding Officer/Prospective Executive Officer Afloat Course at the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut.
The course is aimed at preparing future Commanding Officers and Executive Officers for leadership roles at sea.
Training focused on several important areas linked to maritime command, including command philosophy, operational decision-making, bridge resource management, risk management, navigation, engineering readiness, and personnel leadership.
The officers also covered the legal and administrative responsibilities that come with taking command.
This achievement marks another step in the professional development of AFM personnel, particularly within the Maritime Squadron, where strong leadership and sound decision-making are essential during operations at sea.
The successful completion of the course reflects the continued training and international cooperation that supports the Armed Forces of Malta in strengthening its operational capabilities.
