A Yellow Heat Warning has been issued for Malta as temperatures are expected to climb to 35°C.
With the summer heat intensifying, authorities are encouraging the public to take simple precautions to reduce the risk of heat-related illness.
Health advice includes:
1. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
2. Choose lighter meals and eat plenty of fruit.
3. Avoid spending long periods in direct sunlight, especially during the hottest hours.
4. Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and apply sunscreen.
5. Keep an eye on elderly relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be more vulnerable to high temperatures.
As temperatures continue to rise, it’s important to stay hydrated, avoid unnecessary outdoor activity during peak heat, and seek shade or air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
