Fourteen personnel from C Company and the Special Operations Unit of the Armed Forces of Malta recently took part in a joint tactical shooting exercise in Sicily as part of ongoing military cooperation between Malta and Italy.
The exercise, entitled “Range Time, Tactical and Dynamic Shooting,” was hosted by the 62nd Infantry Regiment “Sicilia” of the Italian Army’s “Aosta” Brigade at training facilities in Sicily.
The initiative formed part of the bilateral cooperation programme between the Italian Defence General Staff and the Armed Forces of Malta, with the aim of enhancing interoperability through the exchange of procedures, techniques and training methodologies in tactical and dynamic shooting.
During the exercise, Maltese personnel participated in both theoretical and practical training sessions covering modern weapon handling techniques, safety procedures and dynamic shooting drills under the guidance of instructors from the Italian regiment.
According to the Armed Forces of Malta, the training also provided an opportunity for professional exchange between Maltese and Italian military personnel, further strengthening the longstanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of security and defence.
The Armed Forces of Malta said it remains committed to strengthening international partnerships and enhancing operational readiness through joint training initiatives with allied and partner nations.
