The Armed Forces of Malta helped locate a drifting fishing vessel on Monday morning after the boat reportedly lost communication and suffered an engine failure.
According to an official communication from the AFM, Malta’s Rescue Coordination Centre, RCC Malta, was involved in a search to locate the vessel.
AFM aerial and maritime assets were deployed during the operation. The vessel was eventually found drifting outwards towards the open sea.
The AFM said communication was then re-established with the vessel, and the necessary assistance was provided.
No further details were confirmed in the post about the exact location of the vessel, how many people were on board, or whether anyone required medical attention.
The incident highlights the importance of quick coordination at sea, especially when a vessel loses contact and begins drifting away from shore.
