Spain are heading to the World Cup final after a strong 2-0 win over France in the semi-final.
Mikel Oyarzabal gave Spain the lead in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot, after Lamine Yamal was involved in the move that led to the foul. Pedro Porro then doubled the lead in the 58th minute, finishing off a slick attacking move to put Spain in control.
France, who were hoping to reach another World Cup final, could not find a way back into the match. Spain’s defence kept Kylian Mbappé and the French attack quiet, with AP reporting that it was Spain’s sixth clean sheet in seven matches at the tournament.
The result means Spain will now face either England or Argentina in the final, with the tournament trophy now just one match away.
For Spain, it is another major statement on the world stage. For France, it is the end of their latest push for glory.
