Transport Malta enforcement officers are now being equipped with bodycams, in what the authority described as another step towards more modern, transparent and effective enforcement.
The announcement was made by Transport Malta, which said the new technology is intended to help strengthen safety for everyone involved during enforcement operations.
Bodycams are commonly used to provide a clearer record of interactions between enforcement officers and members of the public. In this case, Transport Malta said the measure is also aimed at supporting greater accountability while officers carry out their duties.
For the public, the introduction of bodycams may help make enforcement situations clearer and more transparent. For officers, the technology can also offer an added layer of safety while they are on duty.
Transport Malta described the move as part of its wider effort to modernise enforcement and improve the way operations are carried out.
