A milestone birthday became an opportunity to help others after Vanessa Grech raised €5,000 in aid of Puttinu Cares.

Vanessa collected the donation while celebrating her 50th birthday, choosing to use the occasion to support the organisation and the patients and families who depend on its services.

Puttinu Cares Thanks Vanessa

Puttinu Cares shared news of the donation on its official social-media pages, thanking Vanessa for her generosity, compassion and support.

The organisation also wished her a happy birthday and described the initiative as an inspiring way to mark such an important occasion.

The publicly available posts did not explain exactly how the money was collected, whether through donations instead of presents or through a separate birthday activity. The venue, date of the celebration and number of contributors were also not stated.

How the Donation Can Help

Puttinu Cares was created to support children affected by cancer and their families, although its assistance has since expanded to include adult patients requiring treatment abroad.

Among its services, the foundation provides accommodation to patients and accompanying relatives travelling to the UK for specialised medical treatment. This helps families avoid the additional financial pressure of finding somewhere to stay while already facing a difficult period.

The organisation relies heavily on public generosity, fundraising activities and voluntary support to continue offering this assistance.

A Celebration Shared With Others

Birthdays are normally centred on gifts and personal celebrations, but Vanessa’s fundraiser allowed her milestone to have an impact beyond the day itself.

The €5,000 contribution will now support Puttinu Cares in continuing its work with patients and families during treatment.

It was a thoughtful way to celebrate turning 50 — and one that the organisation and the people it helps are unlikely to forget.
