Sliema Wanderers have completed one of the biggest signings of the local transfer window, welcoming Malta international midfielder Teddy Teuma on a two-year contract.
The Blues officially unveiled Teuma on Tuesday, 21 July, describing him as one of Malta’s finest players and confirming that he is now a Wanderer.
The move brings the 32-year-old into Maltese domestic football following a career spent working his way through the French and Belgian football systems.
A major addition for Sliema
Teuma arrives with considerable experience at both club and international level.
Born in Toulon, he began his senior career with Hyères before representing Boulogne and Red Star in France. He later joined Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, where he became an important part of the team during its rise through Belgian football.
He moved to Stade de Reims in 2023 and was later appointed captain of the French club. Reims said Teuma made 69 appearances during his two-and-a-half-year spell and was directly involved in 23 goals.
Recent spell at Standard Liège
Teuma left Reims in January 2026 to join Standard Liège until the end of the season.
Standard’s announcement highlighted his experience and confirmed that the midfielder had returned to the Belgian league, where he had previously enjoyed success with Union Saint-Gilloise.
His move to Sliema now opens another chapter in his career, giving Maltese football followers the opportunity to watch him compete locally.
Fifty appearances for Malta
Teuma has also become an established member of Malta’s national team since making himself available for selection in 2020.
He earned his 50th international cap during Malta’s match against Luxembourg in March 2026.
Among his memorable moments in a Malta shirt was the late penalty that secured a 1–0 Nations League victory over Moldova at the National Stadium in October 2024.
His creativity, passing ability and experience have made him an influential presence in Malta’s midfield.
Sliema continue strengthening their squad
Teuma’s arrival represents a clear statement of ambition from Sliema Wanderers as they prepare for the new campaign.
The midfielder will bring experience from the French and Belgian leagues, leadership developed during his time as Reims captain and familiarity with several members of Malta’s national-team setup.
For local supporters, the move is particularly significant. After years of watching Teuma represent clubs overseas, they will now be able to follow him each week in Maltese football.
