Blood Donation Van at Police Headquarters Today Following St Julian’s Shooting
A mobile blood donation unit will be stationed outside Police General Headquarters in Floriana today, Saturday 25 July, following the shooting that left two police officers injured.
The National Blood Transfusion Service will accept donations between 8.30am and 1pm.
All eligible donors are encouraged to attend, although there is a particularly urgent need for O negative blood.

What donors should know
Anyone planning to attend should bring a valid physical identification document.
Donors are also advised to eat before arriving, drink water and avoid attending on an empty stomach.
Final eligibility will be determined by the National Blood Transfusion Service’s medical staff following the standard health assessment.
Public support encouraged
The donation drive follows an appeal issued after two police officers were injured during a shooting incident in St Julian’s.
One of the officers was reported to be in a serious condition, prompting calls for O negative donors to come forward.
Even donors with other blood groups are encouraged to attend, as blood supplies are constantly needed for emergencies, operations and ongoing patient care.
Anyone unable to donate can still help by sharing the information with friends, relatives and colleagues.
