An estimated 458,223 inbound tourists visited Malta during June 2026, representing an increase of 18.5% compared with the same month last year.
Visitors spent almost 2.58 million nights in Malta and an estimated €456 million during the month, according to figures released by the National Statistics Office on 30 July.
Tourist Numbers Rose Faster Than Nights And Spending
The number of tourists increased by 18.5%, while total nights rose by a smaller 3.9%.
Total expenditure increased by 15.2% compared with June 2025, reaching €456 million. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €176.80.
The average length of stay stood at 5.6 nights.
Of the tourists recorded during June, 427,333 travelled primarily for holidays and 22,148 visited for business purposes.
People aged between 25 and 44 represented the largest group, accounting for 37.2% of inbound tourists.
British, Italian and Polish residents together made up 45.6% of the monthly total.
More Than 277,000 Visited Gozo Or Comino
The NSO estimated that 277,985 tourists visited Gozo or Comino during June.
That figure includes both same-day and overnight visitors and represents 60.7% of all inbound tourists recorded during the month.
The statistic does not specify how long each visitor remained in Gozo or Comino or how much of their overall expenditure took place there.
Malta Recorded 2.13 Million Tourists In Six Months
During the first half of 2026, Malta recorded an estimated 2,131,825 inbound tourists—18.1% more than during the corresponding period in 2025.
Visitors spent a total of 11.8 million nights, an increase of 10.1%.
Total expenditure reached almost €1.8 billion, rising by 14.8%. However, expenditure per tourist declined from €866 to €842.
The number visiting Gozo or Comino during the six-month period was estimated at 1,123,572, equivalent to 52.7% of inbound tourists.
The NSO figures are survey estimates rather than exact counts. They measure tourist trips, meaning the same person may be recorded more than once when making multiple visits during the period.
