One of the most emotional moments from Pitbull’s Malta concert has now travelled far beyond Ta’ Qali, after global entertainment platform Pubity shared the story with its international audience.
The viral clip shows the moment Pitbull stopped his concert after spotting a sign in the crowd reading, “My friend has cancer, she loves you.” Pubity shared the footage on Monday, crediting Maltese creator Gabriel Tonna, known online as The Briefcase Man.
For a moment that began with one Maltese friend trying to do something special for another, its international reach adds a new chapter to a story that already resonated strongly in Malta.
It Started With A Sign At Ta’ Qali
The moment took place during Pitbull’s concert at Ta’ Qali on Sunday, 2 August.
Gabriel Tonna held up the handmade sign for his friend Cheyenne Muscat, who is battling cancer and is a fan of the American artist. Pitbull spotted it from the stage and stopped the show to acknowledge her.
He spoke about the importance of love and support for people facing cancer before encouraging the crowd to join him in showing solidarity with Cheyenne.
The Malta Independent reported that Cheyenne later described the experience as surreal, with people she had never met approaching her after the concert to offer hugs and wish her well.
From Ta’ Qali To A Global Social Audience
More than a week later, the moment has received another wave of attention after being picked up by Pubity, one of the large international entertainment pages on social media.
Its Instagram post used footage credited to The Briefcase Man and highlighted how Pitbull had stopped the show for a fan’s friend battling cancer. Gabriel himself responded to the post, thanking Pitbull for helping make his friend’s dream come true.
The story has also circulated through a number of Maltese media outlets and social pages since the concert, with footage of the moment being shared repeatedly online.
What started as one friend holding up a sign in a packed Ta’ Qali crowd has now become a Malta moment being watched and shared internationally.
