Malta’s Zea Montfort has made history at the World Aquatics Junior Artistic Swimming Championships in Budapest, finishing 10th in the Women’s Solo Technical.
The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta described the result as a historic milestone for Maltese artistic swimming, with Montfort competing on the world stage against athletes representing 27 countries.
The championships are being held in Budapest from 12 to 16 August 2026, with World Aquatics confirming that the Women’s Solo Technical is among the events proceeding directly to a final.
Another Step Forward For Montfort
The top-10 result continues Montfort’s progression on the international stage.
At the senior World Aquatics Championships in Singapore in 2025, she represented Malta in both the Solo Technical and Solo Free events.
Her latest performance in Budapest now gives Malta a top-10 finish at junior world level a result the ASA has hailed as another historic milestone for the country’s artistic swimming programme.
Montfort was supported in Budapest by National Team Head Coach Michelle Hubner and Assistant Coach Hannah Preca Trapani, with the ASA crediting their work and commitment behind the result.
The championships continue in Budapest until 16 August.
