When the Sun, Moon and a Proposal Lined Up Perfectly

·

3 min read

Some proposals come with candles, flowers or a beautiful view. This one had the Sun and Moon helping with the backdrop.

A striking image shared online shows a man down on one knee proposing as a solar eclipse forms a glowing ring behind the couple.

The proposal was reportedly planned around sunset so that the eclipse would become part of the scene, resulting in a photograph where the celestial event appears almost perfectly positioned between the couple.

It is certainly not the first time someone has chosen a solar eclipse for a proposal. Couples have used eclipses as the setting for engagements around the world, including during the major total solar eclipse of 8 April 2024.

But there is something particularly memorable about getting the timing — and the photograph — quite this right.

A ring for the proposal, and another one appearing in the sky. 🌘💍
