Malta’s U18 women’s water polo team have made history in Tenerife, defeating Zimbabwe 18–9 during their first-ever appearance at the World Aquatics U18 Women’s Water Polo Championships. 🇲🇹🤽♀️
Chloe Amato led Malta’s attack with an impressive eight goals, while Kaylen Cutajar scored three. Ella Miceli and Nevise Agius added two each, with Holly Camilleri, Eyla Schembri and Marie Rose Tully also finding the net.
The result gives the young Maltese side their first victory at this level after World Aquatics confirmed Malta as a newcomer to the competition. Malta began its campaign in Group D alongside Germany and Canada.
The championships are being held in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, from 16 to 23 August, with 20 national teams taking part.
For a squad competing on this world stage for the first time, an 18-goal performance and a first victory already make this a memorable chapter for Maltese women’s water polo.
