Maltese drag racer Luke Farrugia has produced another standout European performance, firing his Checkmate Suzuki down the Hockenheim quarter-mile in 6.146 seconds at 221mph during NitrOlympX qualifying.
The run put Farrugia at the top of the FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike qualifying order ahead of Sunday’s eliminations.
Dragbike.com described the 6.146-second pass as the quickest Funnybike run recorded outside North America, adding another major achievement to Farrugia’s impressive 2026 campaign.
The result comes just two weeks after Farrugia won the previous FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike round at Tierp Arena in Sweden. FIM Europe confirmed that victory left him leading Thomas Pettersson by just two championship points, 97–95, heading towards Hockenheim.
The job in Germany is not finished yet, with the NitrOlympX eliminations still to come on Sunday.
For now, though, Farrugia has already made his speed count on one of Europe’s biggest drag-racing stages.
