Young Maltese triathletes Aiden Muscat and Zia Fujii both secured age-category podium finishes during a weekend of international competition in Molėtai, Lithuania.
The Shamrock Stars Sports Club athletes represented the Malta Triathlon Federation while attending the Europe Triathlon Junior Development Camp and its accompanying races.
Two Second-Place Finishes In Molėtai
Both athletes competed in the TRI-FUN race at the Molėtų Triatlonas–LTT 6 event on Sunday, 23rd August.
Fujii finished second in the female 16–17 category with a time of 33 minutes and 38.6 seconds. Her performance also placed her sixth among all female competitors.
Muscat completed the race in 31 minutes and 37.6 seconds, earning second place in the male 16–17 category and ninth place in the overall male standings.
Muscat Earns Place In European Final
One day earlier, Muscat competed in the 2026 Europe Triathlon Junior Cup Molėtai.
The super-sprint race consisted of a 335-metre swim, a 7.4-kilometre cycling segment and a 1.9-kilometre run.
Muscat completed Semi-Final 1 in 25 minutes and 29 seconds, placing 10th and earning his place in the final on merit.
However, the scheduled final was later cancelled after severe weather affected the event.
The two podium finishes brought a positive end to the weekend for the young Maltese athletes, who will continue training in Lithuania under Malta Triathlon Federation coach Charles Muscat.
