Dog lovers, this one is for you. International Dog Day is celebrated on 26 August, giving people around the world an extra reason to celebrate the dogs who share their homes and lives.

Here at Mela Bonġu, we want to mark the occasion by meeting some of Malta’s four-legged characters.

Show us your dog

Whether you live with an energetic puppy, a distinguished older dog, a rescue who found a loving home or a professional sofa occupier, we would love to see them.

Share a photo of your dog in the comments and tell us their name. You can also tell us a little about what makes them such a memorable member of the family.

A day that also highlights dogs in need

International Dog Day is not simply an excuse to fill our feeds with good dogs. The annual observance also draws attention to dog adoption, rescue and animal welfare.

The day was established in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige and is observed annually on 26 August.

So give your dog an extra cuddle, treat or walk, then introduce them to the Mela Bonġu community. We have a feeling the comments could become a very good place to spend some time.
