Family of Organ Donor Joe Sammut Hopes to Meet the People His Donations Helped

·

The family of the late Joe Sammut has made an emotional appeal to find the people who received his donated organs following his sudden death earlier this year.

Joe passed away unexpectedly on 5 June 2026. His organs were subsequently donated, with five transplants taking place the following day.

His family is now hoping that any recipients who feel comfortable doing so will get in touch with them.

“Our dad is alive in someone else”

In their appeal, the family wrote: “Our dad is alive in someone else. And someone else is alive thanks to our dad.”

They stressed that they are not seeking anything from the recipients other than the opportunity to meet them, hear their stories and find some comfort as they process Joe’s loss.

“We just want to meet you. We want to hear your story. To know that part of our dad is still here,” the family said.

The family has given its consent for recipients who wish to make contact to do so and is encouraging people to share the appeal in the hope that it reaches them.
