Maltese karting driver Morgan Zammit has been crowned champion after completing a season in which he achieved a podium finish in every race of the championship.
Zammit entered the decisive weekend with the title within reach and began strongly by securing pole position with the Lenzo chassis and LKE engine package prepared by Team Castorina.
He followed that result with victory in the Prefinal, putting himself in a strong position heading into the final race.
Another podium seals the championship
Zammit crossed the finish line in second place in the Final following a closely contested race. He received a three-second post-race penalty, but the result was still enough to complete his championship campaign with another podium and secure the title.
Across the championship, Zammit finished on the podium in every race, making consistency one of the defining features of his title-winning season.
A comeback after a difficult year
The championship also marks a significant personal comeback for Zammit. Just one year ago, he spent time using a wheelchair before returning to competitive karting.
His subsequent return to racing culminated in this season’s championship title, alongside a series of consistent results on track.
Team effort behind the title
Zammit’s campaign was supported by Team Castorina, with Dino Castorina and Michele Lenzo involved in the programme and Leonardo Cicchino responsible for his preparation as mechanic.
He competed using Lenzo chassis equipment and LKE engines, with engine builder Franco Drudi also forming part of the technical setup behind the campaign.
International races next for Zammit
Zammit’s season is set to continue beyond his championship success. He has been recommended to participate in the FIA Karting World Cup in Viterbo next month, where he is expected to reunite with Lenzokart and Team Castorina.
He is also expected to represent Sicily at the Zone Champions race in Sarno alongside Team Castorina and several teammates.
With the championship secured, the upcoming international events will give Zammit another opportunity to build on a season defined by consistent podium finishes and a successful return to competitive karting.
