Maltese mountaineer Nicky Ellul is preparing for his next major challenge after successfully summiting Mount Everest in May.
Ellul will attempt to climb Aconcagua, Argentina’s 6,961-metre peak, as part of his Seven Summits project to reach the highest mountain on each of the world’s seven continents.
The expedition will be undertaken solo, unguided and as a full mountain traverse, adding significant challenges to the ascent. Unlike a guided expedition, Ellul will be responsible for route-finding, pacing and key decisions throughout the climb.
Although Aconcagua is generally considered less technically demanding than Everest, its extreme altitude, harsh weather and remote environment make it a serious test of endurance and preparation.
“The Seven Summits project continues. One mountain at a time,” Ellul said.
The expedition will be documented throughout, giving followers an insight into his preparation, progress and challenges on the mountain.
