AFM Honours 7 Personnel Following UNIFIL Mission in Lebanon

Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) has held an official letter presentation ceremony recognising seven personnel who completed a deployment to Lebanon in support of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The ceremony, held at Lyster Barracks in Ħal Far, was preceded by a Quarter Guard. The personnel, including one officer, served alongside the 127th Infantry Battalion of the Irish-led UNIFIL contingent. The deployment began on 14 November 2025, with the final member returning to Malta on 26 May 2026.

During their mission, the Maltese personnel operated in a challenging security environment amid heightened regional tensions, maintaining a high level of professionalism, discipline and vigilance.

The ceremony also highlighted the close cooperation between the AFM and the Irish Defence Forces, as well as the important support provided by the personnel’s families.
