Maltese racing driver Jake Jordan Micallef, known as JJM, has marked his return to competition by securing pole position in IAME X30 racing in Italy following six weeks of recovery.
The result came on Micallef’s debut with EL Racing Team, with the Maltese driver going on to finish fourth in the final.
From Six Weeks Of Recovery To Pole Position
Micallef had spent six weeks recovering and waiting to get back behind the wheel, making his pole position particularly significant on his return to racing.
The Maltese driver said he had promised himself he would come back stronger, and immediately made his mark during his first outing with EL Racing Team.
After securing pole position, Micallef went on to finish fourth in the final.
Racing Against Jack Wolff In Italy
Among Micallef’s fellow competitors was Jack Wolff, son of Mercedes Formula One team principal Toto Wolff.
Wolff went on to win the race, with Micallef congratulating his fellow competitor on the victory following his own fourth-place finish.
Micallef said the level of competition reflected the international stage on which he is continuing to test himself.

Micallef also highlighted the role of EL Racing Team manager Luke Muscat in his comeback weekend, thanking him for his support and dedication and for ensuring he had everything needed to perform at his best.
For Micallef, the pole position carried added significance following the recovery period and the work required to return to competition.
His debut with EL Racing Team ultimately delivered pole position and a fourth-place finish as the Maltese driver resumed his international racing campaign.
