Armed Forces of Malta officer Second Lieutenant Kristian Grech has successfully completed a 22-week military engineering leadership programme at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, United States.
Grech completed the Engineer Basic Officer Leader Course, known as EBOLC, which covers technical engineering, demolitions, tactical operations, military planning and leadership. His completion of the course and the awards he received were announced by the Armed Forces of Malta.
Honor Graduate recognition
During the programme, Grech trained in general engineering, demolitions, offensive and defensive engineer operations and operational planning, alongside physical and field assessments.
At the end of the course, he received the Honor Graduate Certificate in recognition of his academic and overall performance, placing him among the course’s top-performing students.
Three additional military badges
Grech also completed challenges outside the main EBOLC programme and earned three foreign military badges during his time in the United States.
These were the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, which involved physical fitness, military proficiency and marksmanship tests, the Norwegian Foot March Badge after completing a 30-kilometre march with the required load within the set time, and the Norwegian Sharpshooter Badge after meeting the required marksmanship standards.
The achievement adds another international training milestone for an AFM officer, with the Armed Forces congratulating Grech on completing the programme and earning the additional distinctions.
