Five puppies have been taken into the care of Malta’s Association for Abandoned Animals after arriving from a farm covered in fleas and ticks.
The animal welfare organisation said the puppies are now safe and receiving the care they need.
Puppies not yet available for adoption
Although people have already expressed an interest in giving the puppies a home, the association stressed that they are not yet available for adoption.
The puppies will first be given time to settle in, undergo veterinary checks and receive the treatment and care they require.
The association said it will contact people who have already been in touch about the puppies once the dogs are ready to move to the next stage.
Mothers have been neutered
There was also some positive news from the farm. The association confirmed that the puppies’ mothers have already been neutered, helping to prevent further unwanted litters.
The arrival comes as the organisation continues to deal with the intake and care of dogs needing shelter and support.
