Nicolò Cacciatore secured two podium finishes across two different Rotax categories during a busy racing weekend at Al Ain International Raceway in the UAE.
Cacciatore finished third in the DD2 class during the Rotax Max Challenge UAE Invitational before returning to the track on Sunday and taking another third-place overall finish in his first Senior Heavy outing.
Recovery Secures DD2 Podium
The DD2 competition on 25 and 26 September proved challenging from the opening sessions, with Cacciatore struggling with the kart’s balance before recovering to qualify fourth.
He slipped to sixth during the heat and carried that position into the pre-final before another difficult start dropped him to seventh in the 14-lap final.
Cacciatore worked his way back into contention as the race progressed. With four laps remaining, Hamza Hashisho retired from third position following a throttle cable problem, moving Cacciatore into the final podium place.
He crossed the line third behind Tony Hogg and Maurits Knopjes to complete the comeback from seventh on the starting grid.
Mumbai Falcons Racing UAE provided technical support to Cacciatore during the DD2 weekend.
Another Third Place In Senior Heavy
Cacciatore returned to action on Sunday, 27 September, for the Rotax Racing Club competition, where he raced in the Senior Heavy category for the first time.
Mechanical problems affected his opening practice session, but the issue was resolved in time for the remaining programme.
He went on to finish fourth in Race 1 before taking third place in both Race 2 and Race 3. Those results gave him third place overall, behind Mohammed Al Hammadi and Greg Watt.
Two Podiums Across Two Categories
The Al Ain weekend leaves Cacciatore with two third-place finishes from two different racing formats, including a recovery from seventh in the DD2 final and an immediate podium result on his Senior Heavy debut.
