Maltese water polo international Alec Fenech is set for a new chapter in Italy after joining Roma Vis Nova for the 2026/27 winter season.
The move will mark Fenech’s first season competing in Italy’s Serie A1, adding another major European water polo championship to his growing overseas experience.
Another European Move for Fenech
Before his switch to Italy, Fenech spent a season with Miskolc in Hungary followed by two seasons with Steaua București in Romania.
His time in Romania included a national championship success in 2026. Steaua defeated CSM Oradea in the deciding match of the final series to secure the title, with Fenech included in the championship squad.
Fenech has also represented Malta at senior international level, including during the 2026 European Water Polo Championship.
His move to Roma Vis Nova now gives him the opportunity to continue developing in another established European water polo league while gaining his first experience of the Italian top flight.
