Malta and Gibraltar shared the points in a 1-1 draw in their UEFA Nations League meeting at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali on Thursday evening.
Joseph Mbong put Malta ahead in the 53rd minute, but the advantage lasted just eight minutes before James Scanlon equalised for Gibraltar in the 61st.
Malta take the lead through Mbong
After a goalless first half, Malta broke the deadlock eight minutes after the restart through Mbong.
Gibraltar responded quickly, with Scanlon finding the equaliser in the 61st minute to bring the match back level.
Neither side managed to find another goal, leaving the score at 1-1 at full time.
Malta continue their Nations League campaign
The match formed part of League D, Group 1 of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. Malta had opened their campaign with a 2-1 away victory over Andorra on 24 September, while Gibraltar drew 0-0 with Andorra in their opening fixture.
Malta are coached by Emilio De Leo, with the national side continuing its Nations League campaign against Andorra on Sunday, 4 October. Malta and Gibraltar are then scheduled to meet again in Gibraltar on 16 November.
