Nicky Gauci Climbs to 5th in Legends Cars Italia Championship

Maltese racer Nicky Gauci has climbed from eighth to fifth in the Legends Cars Italia 2026 Championship standings after securing a podium finish at Mugello.

Competing in the fifth round of the championship, which featured 44 cars, Gauci qualified 19th following a traffic-affected session. He recovered to finish 10th in Race 1, setting the second-fastest lap to secure second place on the grid for Race 2.

Gauci initially finished fourth in the second race but was promoted to third following post-race penalties. He went on to finish sixth in Race 3 after twice fighting his way into the lead during a race heavily disrupted by Safety Car periods.

Following a difficult weekend at Vallelunga, the results provided valuable championship points ahead of the season finale at Misano, where double points will be awarded.

Gauci thanked ACME Speedworks for its efforts in preparing the car following the previous round’s crash, as well as his sponsors for their continued support.

With one round remaining, Gauci will be looking to finish the season strongly at Misano.
